Co-Founder of Climate Commodities

Nicholaus Rohleder is the Co-Founder of Climate Commodities, which is a global commodity merchant and development accelerator, focused on incubating, scaling, and funding businesses and assets that are essential for clean energy transition, artificial intelligence infrastructure, national defense, and the broader commodity and energy sectors.

Outside of his professional commitments, Mr. Rohleder serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, where he teaches the Environmental Commodities: Raw Materials of the Future and Climate Technology: Finance & Policy course, as a Member at The Economic Club of New York (ECNY) where he hosts regular informal events on the impact of geopolitics on business leaders, as a Fellow at the United States National Security Institute (NSI) focused on the geopolitics of commodities & natural resources, and as a Family Advisory Council Member for the University of Oxford’s Ownership Project 2.0: Private Capital Owners & Impact.

Previously, Mr. Rohleder served as the Chief Investment Officer of New American Energy, a global hedge fund focused on the energy transition, as Chief Operating Officer & Portfolio Manager at Merit Holdings Group, a private investment platform focused on global public securities and select private equity investments, and as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University teaching the Theory & Practice of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) course.

Mr. Rohleder attended the University of Oxford, reading a Master of Science in Major Programme Management with a concentration in infrastructure finance. Mr. Rohleder received a Master of Science in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Environmental Engineering and Technology from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Science in Sustainability Management with a concentration in Environmental Finance from Columbia University, and is a former Forbes 30 Under 30 Honoree in the Energy category.
